• Reason for Requisition: Replacing Terminated/Cancelling Traveler

Unit Description: Children's Crisis Intervention Unit (CCIU):

 

This specialized inpatient psychiatric unit provides intensive, short-term stabilization for children and adolescents experiencing acute mental health crises. The patient population age range is 5 to 17 years old . The environment is highly structured, requiring nurses to possess excellent communication, crisis management, and de-escalation skills.

Role Summary and Responsibilities:

 

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the CCIU provides direct nursing care, focusing on assessment, medication administration, psychoeducation, and therapeutic interventions within a team-based model.

• Clinical Experience: Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Psychiatric Nursing .
• Team Collaboration: Participate actively in team nursing and required team meetings with physicians, social workers, and other multidisciplinary staff.
• Discharge Planning: Collaborate closely with social workers to facilitate effective discharge planning and ensure safe, comprehensive aftercare arrangements for patients.
• Patient Safety: Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, managing behavioral crises, and applying de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Medication Management: Administer medications safely using the Omnicell system.

Operational Notes

• IV Certification: IV Certifications are NOT required as the scope of work focuses exclusively on psychiatric care.
• Charting System: Experience with the EPIC electronic health record system is preferred.
• Shift: 12-hour day/night shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM).
