📌 Job Title: Surgical Assistant – Travel Contract

Weekly Gross Pay :- $2,209.20

🏥 Facility: Mayo Clinic – Rochester, MN (59902)

📅 Start Date: 10/01/2025 | (15-week contract)

🕒 Shift: Monday–Friday | 10-hour shifts ( start times 7:00 AM or 9:00 AM ) | 40 hrs/week |

4 days/week

📍 No weekends | No call | Overtime as needed

🎓 Education & Certifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Assistant Program .
• BLS certification (must be current).
• CSA or CSFA certification strongly preferred (required for some travel assignments).

💡 Skills & Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of a Surgical Assistant Program .
• Relevant operating room experience within the past 3 years .
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred/Highly Desired:

• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) – NCCSA or
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) – NBSTSA.
• Multi-specialty OR experience in large hospital/academic setting.
• Strong adaptability in complex and high-volume surgical environments.

📝 Position Overview

The Surgical Assistant (SA) works under the supervision of a surgeon/physician, providing direct assistance during surgical procedures. This role requires a strong knowledge of human surgical anatomy, advanced surgical skills (e.g., suturing, patient positioning, instrumentation), and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon.

The SA must demonstrate proficiency in aseptic technique, perioperative policies, and surgical procedures across multi-specialty perioperative services , including:

• General surgery
• Orthopedic surgery
• Neurological & spinal surgery
• ENT/radical neck surgery
• Gynecological & urological surgery
• Cardiovascular & thoracic surgery
• Vascular & trauma surgery
• Plastic & colorectal surgery
• Pediatric surgery

📌 Key Responsibilities

• First-assist surgeons in a wide range of surgical procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments, sutures, and technical support.
• Position patients safely and appropriately for procedures.
• Ensure adherence to aseptic technique and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with perioperative team members to optimize surgical workflow.
• Adapt to unpredictable clinical situations in a fast-paced OR environment.
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare staff.
