Success Coach

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To support the Workforce Development Department in delivering services that empower participants to achieve and sustain meaningful employment. This role provides individualized guidance, resources, and professional development opportunities to help participants explore career pathways, enhance job readiness, and pursue further education and training when appropriate. The position also implements strategies to assess each individual’s abilities, employment barriers, and training needs.

QUALIFICATIONS/

EDUCATION: High school diploma required with s ome college preferred. Experience or strong interest in workforce development, social services, education, or related field desired. Must pass a background check and hold a valid driver’s license. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Energetic and talented team player with the desire to impact the community and create significant change in the lives of youth and adults.

SPECIAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE : The ability to collect and document confidential participant information, detail-oriented, active listening, student advocacy, time management, and possess the desire and ability to serve individuals in need of guidance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Offer individualized support to participants, including career counseling, job readiness training, and employment planning.
  2. Provide individualized assistance to help participants prepare for and pursue employment opportunities. This includes supporting job search efforts, building job readiness skills, supporting post-secondary training enrollment and progress, connecting participants with potential employers, and offering guidance throughout the application and interview process.
  3. Deliver ongoing support to participants after employment to promote long-term job retention. This includes personalized coaching to address workplace challenges, goal setting for career advancement, and proactive resource navigation to help resolve barriers.
  4. Conduct assessments to identify participants’ skills, interests, and barriers to employment. Develop and maintain individualized goals and plans for participants’ professional development and advancement.
  5. Guide participants through available education and workforce programs, training opportunities, and support services (e.g., childcare, transportation, housing).
  6. Design and deliver workshops on resume writing, interviewing, soft skills, and workplace expectations.
  7. Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in designated tracking systems. Track participant progress and outcomes for compliance and reporting.
  8. Ensure adherence to program guidelines, funding requirements, and confidentiality standards. Participate in training and contribute to program evaluation and improvement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Guide individuals through career exploration, goal setting, and the development of plans tailored to their skills and aspirations.
  2. Administer tools to evaluate participants’ job readiness, skills, interests, and barriers to employment or education.
  3. Lead workshops or one-on-one sessions on topics such as resume development, interview preparation, workplace etiquette, and career exploration.
  4. Assist participants in identifying job opportunities, completing applications, and preparing for interviews through coaching and encouragement.
  5. Connect participants with community resources such as transportation, childcare, housing, or mental health services to reduce employment barriers.
  6. Document participant engagement, progress, and outcomes in accordance with program requirements and data collection standards.
  7. Offer post-employment support through coaching and resource navigation to help participants maintain employment and address workplace challenges.
  8. Follow all applicable policies, procedures, and funding guidelines while contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
  9. Reply to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  10. Assist with the health, welfare and safety of all participants and employees.
  11. Interact appropriately with other employees and community professionals.
  12. Adhere to all safety policies and report violations.
  13. Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality.
  14. Support mission statement and activities of other departments.
  15. Support the accessibility of our services and facilities free of architectural, attitudinal, environmental, financial, communication, transportation, employment and other barriers to person with disabilities and barriers to employment.
  16. Attend all meetings required of job i.e.: staff meetings, dept. meetings and safety meetings.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

NOTE: Must have a telephone and maintain it in operating order within telephone company's maintenance capabilities. Must pass/complete background check. Must be licensed driver.

STANDARDS FOR MEASURING PERFORMANCE/QUALITY STANDARDS:

  1. Meeting or exceeding assigned program outcomes related to employment impact, credential attainment, participant retention, participant satisfaction, and documentation accuracy.
  2. Attendance and punctuality to the schedule set by the Assistant Director of Workforce Development.
  3. The adequacy, accuracy and punctuality of all required reports.
  4. The overall effectiveness of working relations with participants, staff, referral sources and service providers.
  5. Quality and quantity of work performed.
  6. Attitude and overall effectiveness of working relations with all stakeholders.
  7. The manner in which duties and responsibilities, essential functions and job competencies are performed.
  8. The effectiveness to which barriers to accessibility are addressed.
  9. The ability to uphold the general policies of Goodwill Industries of Kansas, Inc.
