Senior Human Resources Assistant

Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a Senior Human Resources Assistant in our Turners Falls, MA facility. This individual will be responsible for performing diversified duties to provide support and assistance for the Human Resources functions including: payroll preparation and administration; maintaining employee files and records; providing employee assistance in a range of HR matters; and other similar duties pertaining to supporting the HR functions.

Job Duties:

• Perform a variety of payroll duties necessary to processing of weekly payrolls including entering required data to update employee time and attendance information; rate data; sick or vacation time. Transmit data to outside processing agency; Review and verify accuracy of returned payroll reports; distribute payroll checks according to procedures. Generate various payroll reports; manipulate data to obtain special reports as requested.
• Maintain accurate employee records and files. Set up manual and electronic employee files. Prepare required documentation for new hires. Prepare and forward forms for insurance coverage. Perform required procedures to terminate employees; enter appropriate data to update employee records for such as name or address changes, performance evaluations, pay rate changes, trainings, etc.
• Perform a variety of benefits programs duties including: monitoring employee eligibility and enrolling them as they are eligible; assisting employees with various forms, claims, etc. Respond to inquiries and provide accurate and timely information regarding programs. Check billing for accuracy and verify charges and process for payment. Follow up and resolve with vendors if questions or concerns regarding billing arise.
• Respond to a variety of employee questions and/or concerns involving the HR department. Provide information in an accurate and timely manner. Refer the more complex and/or sensitive situations to supervisor for resolution.
• Provide administrative support for HR functions. Prepare a variety of correspondence, memos, reports, etc. Compile data and prepare various reports as requested. Verify employment inquiries according to established policy. Make arrangements for various company events and functions. Attend various meetings as required in absence of Manager or as otherwise requested.

Perform other similar duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in finance, accounting, business administration or relevant field preferred.
• At least 2 years of payroll processing experience required.
• Perform a wide variety of duties involving an intensive knowledge of HR, payroll functions and the use of a wide range of procedures. Requires the use of judgment in the performance of HR functions and in the determination of the best actions to be taken within the limits of accepted practice.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
