Job Description
Armed Special Police Officer (On-Call) — Washington, DC
Job Type: On-Call / As-Needed
Location: Washington, DC (Various sites – Critical Infrastructure)
Pay: Competitive hourly rate
Schedule: On-call, no guaranteed hours, 12-hour shifts possible
IMPORTANT: This is an on-call position with no set schedule. Officers must be available to respond within 48–72 hours when dispatched.
Requirements:
Current/Valid DC ARMED SPO Certification (MANDATORY)
Pass Valentis Firearms Qualification
Valid driver’s license
21 years or older
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 2 years SPO experience
Clear criminal background and drug screening
Strong communication skills
Flexible availability, including weekends/holidays
Responsibilities:
Patrol and monitor assigned areas
Control access to restricted zones
Report incidents in clear, detailed logs
Provide professional customer service
Support critical infrastructure protection efforts
Physical Demands:
Standing/walking for long periods
Lifting up to 50 lbs
Ability to climb stairs
Good vision and hearing required
