Shoe Last Model Maker Company Profile San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS), a San Antonio, Texas based company, has been in business for over 40 years and has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality comfort footwear. Position SAS has an opening for a Full-Time Shoe Last Model Maker . This position is responsible for working with the Last team to assume the duties associated with last making and to perform additional support duties as assigned within the department when not performing last making tasks. Job Responsibilities Woodworking, hand carving and filing to finish wooden model shoe lasts Working with filler materials to re-form shapes Operating digital lathe to turn shoe lasts Operating cutting equipment to separate and hinge lasts Pattern drafting to make gauges and templates Operating 2D/3D CAD shoe last program General workshop and administration tasks Helping with deliveries and packaging Organizing product samples Assisting with sample model making and last production needs Job Qualifications: A self-starter who enjoys taking on new challenges to expand his/her role. Mature, responsible and self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic. Willing to get involved in anything and everything with an "It Can Be Done" attitude. Able to multi-task handling several projects, while working independently or with a team Ability to work in a fast-paced, open workspace environment. Highly motivated and able to follow instructions. Must be detail oriented and able to work with numbers. Must have absolute ability to exercise confidentiality. Excellent job performance and attendance. Bilingual a plus Useful Experience: 10 years experience in last model making Power tool usage aptitude/experience Computer Assisted Drawing experience/knowledge Microsoft Office suite experience to include Outlook, Word, and Excel Be organized Physical Requirements: Physical labor is necessary for 8 hours or more per day with breaks approximately every two hours including: sitting, standing, walking (inclines & uneven terrain), climbing stairs, stooping, and kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing, seeing and engaging in repetitive motions.
