Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000

Position Overview

Our client, a leader in the food manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Superintendent to oversee the maintenance, operation, and regulatory compliance of industrial refrigeration systems. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability of ammonia systems, boilers, and utilities to support continuous production in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operational Oversight: Provide direct leadership and daily management for the refrigeration and powerhouse departments.
• System Maintenance: Oversee the repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance (PM) of ammonia refrigeration compressors, condensers, pumps, and evaporators.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Program) standards, as well as OSHA, EPA, and USDA regulations.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and manage maintenance budgets, track utility reports, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and equipment reliability.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of technicians and supervisors across multiple shifts to ensure 24/7 operational coverage.
• Project Management: Lead capital expenditure projects related to plant ammonia systems and facility upgrades.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Certification: * High School Diploma or GED required; a Bachelor's degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering is preferred.
• Experience: * Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in industrial ammonia refrigeration.
• Management: * 3+ years of supervisory experience with a proven ability to lead and develop technical teams.
• Process Oversight: * Deep understanding of PSM, HACCP, and HAZMAT protocols.
• Specific Skills: * Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC-based control systems, boilers, and air compressors.
• Additional Requirements: * Must be able to work flexible hours/shifts and weekends as needed.
