About the Role:

The Driver role within the Non-Emergency Transportation industry is pivotal in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of patients to and from medical facilities. This position requires a compassionate and attentive individual who can assist patients with varying mobility needs, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey. The driver will be responsible for operating vehicles in compliance with all safety regulations and maintaining a clean and well-functioning transport environment. Effective communication with patients, healthcare staff, and dispatchers is essential to coordinate schedules and respond to any special requirements. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the quality of patient care by facilitating reliable and dignified transportation services.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must reside in or within 10 miles of Indio, CA
• Valid CA Driver's License (minimum licensed 3 years)
• Ability to safely lift and assist patients with mobility challenges.
• Strong knowledge of transportation safety regulations and protocols.
• Basic proficiency in reading maps and using GPS navigation tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in CPR and basic first aid.
• Experience in transportation management within a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with quality patient care standards and protocols.
• Previous training in assisting patients with special needs or disabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills tailored to patient interaction.

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate vehicles to transport patients to medical appointments, treatments, and other healthcare-related destinations.
• Assist patients with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including lifting or supporting those with limited mobility.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety during transit by adhering to all traffic laws and healthcare transportation protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and any incidents or patient needs encountered during transportation.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and dispatch teams to coordinate schedules and address any special transportation requirements.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
• Read and interpret maps or GPS devices to plan efficient routes and accommodate any changes in scheduling.

Skills:

The required skills such as transporting and assisting patients are applied daily to ensure safe and compassionate patient care during transit. Lifting patients safely requires physical capability and knowledge of proper techniques to prevent injury to both the patient and driver. Quality patient care and patient transportation skills are essential to maintain dignity and comfort for patients throughout their journey. Holding a CDL Class A license and understanding transportation management principles enable the driver to operate vehicles safely and efficiently while complying with all regulatory requirements.
