Job Description

The Medical Assistant - Concierge is responsible for registering, collecting payments, rooming, assisting the provider with care and treatment, discharging, and following-up with patients. It is the role of the Medical Assistant - Concierge to escort patients and their companions through the entire experience to include before, during, and after the patient visit. The position is responsible for assisting the provider with front- and back-office duties. This position works under the direction of the Urgent Care Manager or designee and the on-duty provider and works closely with the provider and other clinical staff. Acting as the patient advocate, the Medical Assistant - Concierge has continuous contact with providers, patients, patient families/significant others, community agencies, and patient care staff and management. Essential Functions & Responsibilities include welcoming patients and guests, collecting identification and payor documentation, conducting patient registration and point of service collection, measuring and collecting patient data (temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, respirations, blood pressure, height, weight, pediatric length and head circumference), conducting hearing and vision screenings, documenting patient medical records, preparing patients for examinations and procedures, assisting providers with patient care, performing approved lab tests and diagnostic testing, administering designated medications, organizing and communicating referrals, maintaining patient care supplies and medications, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications include certification as a Medical Assistant or EMT-B or equivalent experience with certification required within 18 months of hire, American Heart Association CPR certification, proficiency in basic clinical skills, knowledge of infection control and patient confidentiality policies, minimum 2 years clinical support experience preferred, and Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
