Job Description

Are you experienced in maintaining industrial equipment and passionate about precision work?  Oberg Industries, a leader in precision metal stamping, is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to help keep our operations running at peak performance.  

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations.  This is your chance to grow with a company that values craftsmanship, innovation, and continuous improvement.

 

KEY RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and building repairs,  including pumps, motors, conveyors, compressors, and HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Monitor mechanical equipment during operation and listen for irregular sounds to identify potential issues.
  • Disassemble basic machinery and equipment to access, remove, and replace defective components.
  • Adjust mechanical parts and control instruments to restore proper functionality.
  • Install new mechanical components and lubricate moving parts to maintain efficiency.
  • Prepare purchase orders for replacement parts and materials as required.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments such as grinders, drills, and jigs for part fabrication and maintenance tasks.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and perform unscheduled repairs on equipment.
  • Perform basic welding and fabrication for equipment repair and modification.
  • Read and interpret mechanical schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and work orders to guide maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to minimize downtime.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT : While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in a comfortable climatic work setting, and occasionally may be exposed to working outdoors. At Oberg Industries, we believe in fostering a collaborative on-site work environment.  Accordingly, employees are expected to be on-site in order to perform their job. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
  • Must be able to work all shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations. 
  • Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.

 

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE / EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.    
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment required.
