Salary: $50,000-$55,000 (based on experience)
Position Overview Our client, a global logistics company, is seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to join their import operations team. While this is a Japanese/English-speaking work environment, Japanese language skills are not required. However, candidates with global or multicultural work experience are highly preferred, as the team is looking for someone who can smoothly adapt to and thrive in an international setting. The role involves ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, managing import operations, and supporting client documentation needs.
Primary Responsibilities - Handle all customs brokerage activities per CBP regulations, including HTS classification and valuation
- Maintain an active U.S. Customs Broker License
- Coordinate closely with import teams to meet timelines and compliance standards
- Advise customers on documentation and compliance requirements
- Monitor regulatory updates and lead staff training
- Serve as the point of contact for audits and CBP-related issues
- Conduct internal audits and manage corrective actions
- Communicate effectively with CBP and other government agencies
Key Duties - Ensure full regulatory compliance with CBP and partner agencies
- Review documentation for accuracy in HTS, valuation, origin, and trade programs
- Train staff on customs regulations and classification practices
- Advise clients on entry documentation, compliance, and cost-saving strategies
- Proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks
- Manage internal audits and maintain records for CBP review
- Collaborate with sales, import operations, and compliance departments
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements - Valid U.S. Customs Broker License (required)
- 1-2 years of customs brokerage or trade compliance experience
- Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, valuation, and trade programs
- Experience with ABI systems and electronic filing software
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and compliance tools
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred
