JOB TITLE: Laundry Attendant

DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping

LOCATION: Tides

REPORTS TO: Director of Housekeeping

POSITION SUMMARY:

Laundry Attendant is responsible for the complete upkeep and smooth functioning of the laundry department . The laundry attendant should have knowledge of all equipment and how it operates. Sorting, washing, drying, and folding linens.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

  • Maintains the cleanliness of the laundry room.

  • Check the laundry chute every 30-40 minutes during shifts.

  • Sorts dirty linen.

  • Load all laundry into washers and dryers.

  • Identifies any damaged linen and keeps track of a discarded form.

  • Participates in monthly inventory.

  • Communicates any maintenance issues that relate to laundry equipment.

  • Multitasking with linen in various machines running at the same time

  • Able to keep all linen in rotation throughout the shift.

  • Sets the wash and dry cycles on the machines based on products.

  • Organizes linen in such a way that it is sorted by type and placed neatly on the linen shelves.

  • Suggests methods for increasing the laundry efficiency.

  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude with an outgoing and friendly personality towards all guests when in guest areas.

  • Performs other reasonable duties as directed by the leadership team.

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude towards guests and employees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: One or two years of housekeeping experience

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate in english with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding.

  • Ability to count.

  • Ability to perform assigned tasks with attention to detail, essential speed and accuracy.

  • Physical strength and the ability to lift up to pounds, as well as stand and move around for the majority of the day.

  • Ability to follow directions from managers.

  • Good vision and the ability to notice small stains and imperfections.

  • Knowledge of stain treatment in order to utilize the best strategies to remove the stain on linen.

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced working environment.

  • Able to work in a fast paced environment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and folding clothing and other textile items. Removing stains from items using the appropriate procedures.

Equipment to Be Used: Laundry chemicals, laundry carts, broom and dustpan.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Able to stand a long period of time.

  • Able to squat

  • Able to push and pull

  • Able to comply with policies, procedures and codes of ethics

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in the laundry room. At times the laundry room could become extremely hot due to the dryer producing heat.
