Central Oregon Pediatric Associates (COPA) of Bend, Oregon , the largest pediatric practice in the region, is hiring a hybrid, full-time, Epic Analyst.

Location: Hybrid eligible in Bend, OR Metro

At COPA, the EPIC Analyst plays an integral role serving patients at our friendly and welcoming medical clinic for children of all ages. The EPIC Analyst role exists to strengthen COPA’s ability to deliver exceptional care by transforming technology and data into tools that empower our providers and staff. Through intentional system design and meaningful analytics, the Epic Analyst enables efficient workflows, informed decision-making, and an exceptional experience for every child and family we serve.

The role of the EPIC Analyst will include but is not limited to the following duties:

• Leads system optimization and process improvement efforts by maintaining in-depth knowledge of Epic, analytics tools, and industry best practices. Develops a roadmap for future enhancements and ushers in small and large system changes that support COPA’s mission, strategic goals, and operational efficiency.
• Analyzes and optimizes clinical, operational, and administrative workflows by collaborating with end users and operational leaders to align system design with COPA’s guiding principles and patient-care goals.
• Designs, builds, and maintains Epic application configuration, ensuring data accuracy, security, and integrity across integrated systems and interfaces.
• Performs complex system and workflow analysis, including troubleshooting, root cause identification, and documentation of technical issues related to Epic and connected applications.
• Translates complex data into clear, actionable insights for clinical and operational users through strong visualization and analytical storytelling techniques.
• Uses Power BI, SQL, and Epic reporting tools, which include Clarity, SlicerDicer, and Reporting Workbench, to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• Leads cross-functional and integrated workgroups across clinical, operational, and technical teams to prioritize enhancements, evaluate build decisions, and support consistent system standards.
• Designs, builds, and maintains Power BI dashboards, data models, KPIs, and ETL pipelines using Epic Clarity, Caboodle, and other data sources to deliver actionable insights on clinical outcomes, operational performance, and financial trends.
• Collaborates with leaders and clinical teams to define key metrics and translate business questions into strategic dashboards, predictive analytics, and decision-support tools that advance quality, efficiency, and population health goals.
• Ensures data governance, integrity, and security across Epic, Power BI, and analytics environments; partners with internal and external resources to automate reporting and advance analytics maturity.
• Prepares build specifications and manages enhancement requests, organizing, vetting, prioritizing, and implementing system changes to maximize business and patient-care value.
• Supports end-user success by creating system documentation, delivering user training, and helping stakeholders interpret and apply reports and dashboards effectively.
• Builds strong relationships with caregivers and partners, including collaboration with Legacy and external data and reporting partners.
• Supports continuous improvement and change management, championing innovation and standardized practices that improve efficiency and user experience.
• Maintains compliance, professionalism, and confidentiality, ensuring alignment with COPA policies, regulatory requirements, and data security standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Certification:

• Epic certification in at least one (1) Clinical or Reporting application required (e.g., EpicCare Ambulatory, Clarity Data Model, Cogito, or SlicerDicer). Must complete Epic certification training if not already Epic certified in the most recent version of the Epic EHR product.
• Power BI certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) or equivalent experience with data visualization tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Healthcare Informatics, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience considered.

Experience:

• 2+ years of Epic analyst experience.
• 2+ years of experience in data visualization and analytics using Power BI.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, DAX, and data modeling.
• Experience integrating Epic Clarity/Caboodle data with Power BI or similar BI tools.
• Understanding of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and quality metrics (HEDIS, OHA benchmarks, VBC measures).
• Epic Systems: EpicCare Ambulatory, Clarity, Caboodle, SlicerDicer

Technical Skills Preferred:

• Analytics & BI Tools: Power BI (DAX, Power Query, Data Modeling, Row-Level Security), Excel (advanced), SQL Server Management Studio
• Data Sources: ODBC connections, Azure Data Services, Flat files, HL7/FHIR data integration
• Languages: SQL, DAX, basic Python or R (preferred)
• Other: Understanding of HIPAA-compliant data handling and healthcare data standards

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to review information on a computer screen for extended periods and participate in meetings or communication using phone, video, or other technology, with or without accommodation. Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Frequent repetitive motion includes computer keyboard use, reaching with hands and arms, and walking. Occasional lifting and or moving up to 30 pounds and on rare occasion up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Working Conditions:

• Hybrid: Travel between COPA clinics and business office as required.
