The EIC must define a clear and compelling vision for the look, feel, and voice of our portfolio of products, including the existing weekly print newspaper, daily emails, website, and soon, tablet and mobile. Change agent. Must drive staff adaptation to new mediums, platforms, skill sets, story forms, and ways of doing things. The EIC should strategically guide the business journal operation into new markets, competencies, and opportunities. Newsroom leader. Take a proactive, hands-on approach in developing and leading the reporting staff to produce engaging content that connects with audiences. Audience engagement. Share responsibility for growing our print, digital, and event audiences through blogging, Editor's Notebooks, and other interactions. Ensure print vitality. Focus on packaging, long-form journalism, and exclusive interviews to maintain print relevance. Management. Collaborate with department heads to create business and marketing plans. Content partnerships. Seek syndication channels and partnerships for Business Journal content. National initiatives. Act as the primary conduit between the local newsroom and ACBJ-corporate for national editorial and news initiatives. Achieve audience goals. Meet or exceed targets related to page views, users, engagement, subscriptions, and event attendance. Participate in events. Regularly attend Business Journal-sponsored events. Additional duties. Take on other assignments as directed by managers. Collaborative work. Work cooperatively with colleagues and professionally with sources. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 5-7 years of management and / or team leadership experience. Experience in daily and weekly print for a business news operation. Experience working in an online news environment. Strong desire to connect directly with readers and audiences.
