The Family Health Center of Kalamazoo is looking for driven, enthusiastic individuals to join our team.

The Dental Lab Support Tech (DST) position is an entry level position that will expose the right candidate to a rewarding career in healthcare. The DST supports our patient center mission by working alongside our Dental Assistants to support the needs of patients and providers. The right individuals will have the opportunity to enter into the Family Health Center Dental Assistant training program. Through classroom and work-based learning these individuals will develop practical skills to prepare for the Certified Dental Assistant Exam.

To apply for this position you should be well-organized, flexible, and willing to assist wherever possible. This position is full time at 40 hours per week.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To perform high quality cleaning procedures, while working in a safe and effective manner
• To ensure that all areas of the dental practice are regularly cleaned, paying attention to the safety procedures, standard precautions and infection control processes
• Disinfection of dental operatory
• Practices proper waste management techniques, disposal of sharps, biohazard, general garbage, etc.
• Stocking the rooms/operatories
• Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision

EDUCATION:

• Must have high school diploma, or GED

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be available to work 40 hours per week
• Must have reliable transportation to and from both dental clinics (Alcott and/or Burdick)

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
