Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller or CFO to lead our financial operations. This role will be responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions, while also serving as a key advisor to the executive team on financial planning and business strategy. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, payroll, job costing, and general ledger. Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections. Oversee financial audits, tax filings, and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Implement and maintain internal controls and financial policies. Partner with project managers and operations to ensure accurate job costing and profitability analysis. Evaluate and implement financial systems and process improvements. Provide strategic financial insights to support growth, risk management, and operational efficiency. Manage banking relationships, insurance, bonding, and capital planning. Qualifications ~ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred). ~7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in construction or contracting. ~ Strong knowledge of construction accounting, WIP schedules, and job costing. ~ Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar). ~ Proven ability to lead teams and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders. ~ High attention to detail, integrity, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
