Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Controller is a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for directing all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, cost analysis, internal controls, compliance, and team leadership. This position ensures accurate and timely financial information is available for strategic decision-making and oversees a high-performing accounting department that supports operational excellence and company growth. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of position) : Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, cost accounting, inventory accounting, cash management, and revenue recognition. Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. Prepare and analyze financial statements, dashboards, and operational metrics to support leadership in business planning and performance tracking. Manage and develop annual budgets and financial forecasts; provide variance analysis and actionable insights to executive leadership. Maintain a robust system of internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Direct tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes. Provide financial guidance and strategic support to cross-functional leaders and participate in long-term financial planning. Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff to build a high-performing and accountable finance team. Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions. Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to streamline processes and improve data accuracy and accessibility. Support special projects, capital investments, and business initiatives through financial modeling and ROI analysis. ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive manufacturing accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or controller-level role. Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting in a manufacturing environment. Extensive experience applying standard costing in a manufacturing environment. Proficient in ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting teams. NONESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (not necessary but preferred): CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred. Epicor ERP experience Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
