Job Title: CAD Technician

Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Location : Christiansburg, VA

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to support our manufacturing operations by creating and maintaining detailed technical drawings and 3D models. The ideal candidate has strong drafting experience, excellent design skills, and proficiency in at least one major CAD software. Candidates with expertise in SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or other equivalent CAD programs are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided to familiarize you with our preferred software as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and update plant drawings and related technical documentation.
• Develop detailed 3D models and comprehensive drawing packages to support manufacturing and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to troubleshoot equipment and design improvements.
• Ensure all drawings meet quality standards and apply GD&T correctly.
• Maintain documentation such as spare parts lists, maintenance schedules, and calibration records.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Associate degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical Engineering, CAD/CAM, Manufacturing, or related field, OR equivalent experience with a drafting certificate.
• Minimum 2 years of CAD/drafting experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in at least one of the following CAD software packages: SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, PTC Creo, Autodesk Inventor, Siemens NX, or Fusion 360.
• Ability to create and update detailed 3D models and full drawing packages.
• Strong understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent design and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of multitasking.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with SolidWorks PDM or other drawing vault systems.
• Manufacturing work experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with 3D printing or extrusion additive manufacturing.
