Job Summary Produces high quality decorated items and baked goods; decorates cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items. Assists in the daily operations in the bakery department. Essential Responsibilities SERVICE: 40% — Create a welcoming environment for customers, ensure department merchandising per plan, maintain shelf availability, freshness, quality and value, offer product samples, answer questions, assist customers, fulfill requests and special orders, receive and process customer orders, decorate merchandise per customer request, and use decoration kits and freehand skills. FINANCIAL: 40% — Complete daily/weekly tasks, process/bake merchandise per production guidelines, verify product quality and sell-by dates, determine variety/quantity from production schedule, receive/unload deliveries, store products properly, rotate stock to ensure freshness and minimize waste, monitor inventory, inspect products for quality, follow discarding/markdown procedures, ensure correct temperatures per food safety guidelines and maintain temperature logs. LEADERSHIP: 10% — Promote trust and teamwork, communicate information, guide and empower the team to meet goals, comply with laws and company guidelines. COMPLIANCE/SAFETY: 10% — Maintain safety, proper food handling, sanitation and productivity. Adhere to food safety, USDA & COOL/DOA requirements. Execute recalls, reinforce safety programs, report unsafe conditions or incidents, ensure wage/hour compliance, promote a safety culture, and ensure PPE and equipment safety. Experience Relevant experience: 0-3 years minimum; Supervisory experience noted as applicable. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must be 18 years of age Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check Strong customer service skills Excellent interpersonal, motivational and communication abilities Basic math knowledge Ability to handle stressful situations Operate bakery equipment (slicer, oven, scale, knives, box cutter, pricing gun) per guidelines Proficiency with computer applications used in department operations; food safety certification or ability to obtain within 180 days Environmental Factors Retail - Bakery: physical demands include standing/walking, manual dexterity, communication, vision, hearing, and repetitive motions. Exposure to various temperatures and safety hazards typical of bakery environments. Requires PPE as needed and ability to handle equipment safely.
