Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from Altius Talent | Freight Forwarding Recruitment Brokerage Manager – Licensed U.S. Customs Broker – Chicago, IL (Onsite, Full-Time) Keywords: Customs brokerage, HTS classification, entry processing, U.S. import compliance, Chicago logistics About the Opportunity I’m recruiting on behalf of a well-established logistics firm that is seeking a hands-on Brokerage Manager to join their Chicago operation. This is a key role for a licensed U.S. Customs Broker who’s comfortable balancing operational leadership with day-to-day file handling. The position offers the chance to drive process improvements while playing a critical role in supporting customs clearance volumes during a major systems transition. The Role This is a fully onsite role (Monday–Friday) in Chicago, and requires someone who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment. You’ll oversee the import clearance function while personally managing a set number of entries — around 150 customs clearance files per month — for the first 6+ months. This workload will support a broader rollout of new brokerage software designed to streamline and automate future processing. Key Responsibilities Serve as the on-site manager for all import customs brokerage activity Maintain compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and internal SOPs Personally handle ~150 entry files per month, including HTS classification and submission Act as the subject matter expert for import procedures, documentation, and regulatory updates Collaborate with IT and leadership to support the rollout of new clearance software Provide leadership and mentorship to entry staff (if applicable), while being hands-on in operations Candidate Profile Active U.S. Customs Broker License (required) Strong background in customs brokerage with deep HTS classification knowledge Experience handling high-volume entry processing, ideally 100+ per month Able to work onsite in Chicago five days a week (relocation not provided) Comfortable with hands-on processing and open to supporting systems improvement initiatives Organized, detail-focused, and capable of meeting strict regulatory deadlines What’s on Offer Key role in a stable, well-structured organization with long-standing industry presence Opportunity to be part of a process improvement initiative from the ground up Hands-on position where your knowledge and license are put to practical use Collaborative office environment with direct access to operational decision-makers Competitive salary and benefits package Interested?
